An international organization
aimed at helping the public become more involved in the fur trade. A non-profit
association, Friends of Fur (FoF) is attracting consumers, environmentalists
and trappers from throughout Canada and the United States. It is a group of concerned
citizens from all walks of life who want society to know that they enjoy wearing fur products
and that good wildlife management will sustain North America's founding industry. |

Fur Institute of Canada

of the fur trade, native groups, various government departments,
conservation and animal-welfare organizations. The Institute administers
the current multimillion dollar trap research and development program,
as well as assisting in the coordination of trapper-training programs.

Dedicated to wildlife conservation
through wise utilization. The Advisory Council's major goals are: (1)
stabilization and enhancement of Louisiana's fur and alligator markets,
in order to maintain a strong economic incentive for protecting coastal
wetlands; and (2) education of the public concerning the role of
trapping in wildlife conservation. |
International Fur Trade Federation

The "United Nations" of the fur trade, with member
associations from thirty countries - virtually every nation where furs
are produced or traded.

The Federation administers the distribution of funds
collected by a levy applied to all furs sold at public auctions around
the world. Considerable funding has been provided to trap research, IUCN
wildlife surveys, and for advanced research aimed at further improving
the housing and care of farmed furbearing animals. |
 The Powell County Museum and Arts Foundation
is a local non-profit membership organization which operates the
Old Montana Prison as a Museum. As the Old Prison Complex contains
buildings located on three blocks outside the Old Prison walls,
other collections have been brought in to fill four museums.
